With the recent renovations to the Sambodromo in 2012, its capacity increased to fit a total of 80,000 spectators in sectors numbered from 2 to 13. All sectors have grandstand seating, which is an excellent budget option and provides amazing elevated views of the Rio Carnival parade.

GRANDSTANDS (Yellow on the map)
The grandstands are sets of bleachers made of concrete that allow high views. The elevated position gives viewers a better idea of the samba schools’ overall performances as a group. This section is general admission with no reserved or assigned places, except in Sector 9, which has numbered seats that are usually assigned a few days before Carnival begins.
